Philippines — Strategic innovation will be key as the Philippine housing sector responds to changing market conditions, evolving policies, and the shifting needs of homebuyers.
The Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) will bring industry stakeholders together for its 34th National Developers Convention on September 16–17, 2026, at Marquis Events Place, BGC, Taguig City, Metro Manila.
Under the theme “Elevate: Sustaining Progress through Collaboration and Strategic Housing Innovations,” the convention will provide a forum for developers, policymakers, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to examine current trends and identify approaches for the sector’s continued progress.
“The housing sector has never operated in a vacuum. Regulations shift, market conditions change, and developers have to keep up. That’s exactly what the convention is for. We come together, we share what we know, and we figure out the next steps as an industry,” said Engr. Francis Richmond Villegas, SHDA Chairman of the Board.
The housing market is undergoing several shifts. Demand is increasingly moving beyond Metro Manila as infrastructure improvements create opportunities in emerging growth areas. First-time buyers and young families are helping drive demand for economic and affordable housing, particularly in suburban townships.
At the same time, increasingly selective homebuyers are prompting developers to pay closer attention to household composition, preferences, and affordability.
Policy changes are another consideration. Recent adjustments, including updated socialized housing price ceilings, reflect ongoing efforts to align housing regulations with current market conditions.
“Change in the housing industry is constant, but our mission has never wavered,” said Mr. Kerwin Padua, SHDA National President. “At the end of the day, everything we do is for Filipino families who want a home they can call their own. The landscape keeps shifting, but the goal of homeownership will stay.”
He added that the convention will help SHDA members, affiliates, and partners understand changing market behavior and demand, enabling developers to provide affordable homes that better address the needs of Filipino families.
Sessions throughout the convention will focus on regulatory updates, household composition, homebuyer trends, and strategic housing innovations.
