The Philippine housing industry will bring together its public- and private-sector stakeholders this month as the Subdivision and Housing Developers Association (SHDA) convenes its 34th National Developers Convention on September 16 and 17, 2026.
The event, to be held at Marquis Events Place in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, is built around the theme “Elevate: Sustaining Progress through Collaboration and Strategic Housing Innovations.”
For a sector facing pressure from changing market demand, regulatory complexity, infrastructure requirements, and the need for sustainable development, the convention is designed as a working forum rather than a purely ceremonial gathering.
The agenda combines policy, finance, market research, infrastructure, and design. That combination reflects how closely connected these factors have become in the housing business.
A Housing Roadmap developed by a University of Asia and the Pacific research team led by former president Dr. Winston Conrad Padojinog, in partnership with SHDA and other housing organizations, will provide an important basis for discussion.
On the policy side, Sen. JV Ejercito will discuss legislative directions related to urban planning, housing, and resettlement.
Department of Economy, Planning, and Development Social Development Staff Director Girlie Grace Casimiro-Igtiben will discuss economic priorities and how they align with housing.
Regulatory and administrative matters will also be addressed. BIR Deputy Commissioner Atty. Larry Barcelo will provide tax updates, while Anti-Red Tape Authority Deputy Director General Dr. Lea Grace Salcedo will discuss efforts to streamline government procedures.
Financing remains central to the industry’s ability to deliver homes. Pag-IBIG Fund Business Development Head Fermin Sta. Teresa, Jr. will present partnership opportunities and offerings relevant to developers.
Land and resource access will receive attention as well. Department of Agrarian Reform Adjudication Board Member III Asec. Atty. Rolando S. Cua will discuss the regulatory framework around housing development, including land conversion and clearance.
National Water Resources Board Executive Director Dr. Sevillo David, Jr. will discuss private-sector access to water resources.
The convention will also examine the infrastructure that makes residential developments viable. Sessions will cover electricity, solid waste management, and telecommunications, reinforcing the idea that housing supply cannot be separated from the systems supporting each community.
Market intelligence will be a major focus on day two. PIDS Vice President Dr. Marife Ballesteros will discuss evolving demand and demographic changes, while Philippine Survey Research Center Executive Director Cristina Reyes will present insights into buyer preferences and the expectations of future homeowners.
Developers will also hear how innovation can extend beyond construction. Joy~Nostalg Group Raemulan Lands Founder and Group Executive Officer Jacinto C. Ng., Jr. will discuss renewable-energy initiatives and community transformation.
The design and creative program includes GIGIL Founding Partner Badong Abesamis, Plus 63 and Hydra Design Group Co-Founder and President Dan Matutina, and PGAA Creative Design Principal and Founder Archt. Paulo Alcazaren.
Their participation adds perspectives on branding, design strategy, urban form, and environmental planning.
SHDA Overall Convention Chair Clarissa De Joya said the event aims to provide delegates with practical strategies for handling property-development processes.
Chairman Engr. Francis Richmond Z. Villegas emphasized SHDA’s role as a collaborative partner with government and industry, while National President Kerwin V. Padua said the association wants to translate conversations into concrete actions.
The adoption of Convention Resolutions will provide a formal mechanism for capturing those recommendations.
The convention’s networking component will include a Fellowship Night on September 16, creating opportunities for developers, government agencies, suppliers, finance organizations, and other stakeholders to develop new connections.
The breadth of the program reflects a business reality: housing growth depends on more than construction capacity.
It requires policy coordination, capital, land, infrastructure, market knowledge, and innovation to move in the same direction.
